Sewer Inspection In Tampa Using An EasyCAM Sewer Camera

This is an actual video that was taken by Olin Plumbing at a customer's house in South Tampa that shows the inside view of the customer’s Cast Iron sewer pipe.

This same video on this page can be found on our YouTube channel as 3 separate videos with the following titles:

In Part 1 a plumber with Olin Plumbing takes us on a tour of the inside of the pipes entering in through the cleanout at the front of the customer’s house using the EasyCAM sewer camera and monitor. He explains to the viewer what they are seeing each step of the way which includes everything from cracks in the Cast Iron pipe to how much the piping has degraded over time.

In Part 2 and Part 3 a plumber with Olin Plumbing is on the roof of the customer's house in South Tampa. He has just dropped the camera down the vent stack which is for one of the bathrooms in the house. He discovers that the vent stack is plastic at first and it then changes to Cast Iron as he continues down the vent stack indicating that there must have been some kind of repair that was previously made. As he continues further down the vent stack he discovers that there is standing water. He then continues down till he reaches the main sewer pipe shown in Part 1 of this video. He shows where the pipe is cracked going towards the street from the roof cleanout and how large the hole is enabling sewer gases to seep out of the pipe into the house.

00:00:01:13 - 00:00:06:02
June 9th at approximately 1:10 p.m.

00:00:07:19 - 00:00:10:19
Entering in through the cleanout from the front of the house.

00:00:16:21 - 00:00:19:16
And we are going in.

00:00:19:16 - 00:00:23:18
As you can see the cast iron looks pretty rough as we're going in.

00:00:24:07 - 00:00:26:21
If you look right there

00:00:26:21 - 00:00:30:00
as I'm just entering in you can see the crack

00:00:30:21 - 00:00:36:00
in the system in the pipe right there as I’m going up into the pipe.

00:00:36:14 - 00:00:37:12
The whole thing is cracked.

00:00:37:12 - 00:00:40:24
It looks like there's a chunk or a piece missing right there.

00:00:42:06 - 00:00:47:22
As we go in and the cast iron is quite old and degenerating.

00:00:48:18 - 00:00:51:12
There's a little bit of standing water right there.

00:00:51:12 - 00:00:54:12
There's another big break right there in the pipe

00:00:54:15 - 00:00:57:15
where there appears to be some seepage

00:00:57:16 - 00:01:01:15
and a piece of the cast is laying there on the side.

00:01:01:15 - 00:01:04:02
If you look on the bottom there you can see it as well.

00:01:05:04 - 00:01:08:04
So I continue to move forward.

00:01:09:03 - 00:01:12:03
We see some more.

00:01:18:04 - 00:01:20:17
Cockroaches running in and out.

00:01:20:17 - 00:01:22:23
Of course you see a little water right there.

00:01:22:23 - 00:01:27:18
There is something like the toilet paper of some object inside.

00:01:28:05 - 00:01:30:20
Let's see if I can just

00:01:30:20 - 00:01:34:15
get to the other side of that without blocking up the lens.

00:01:35:04 - 00:01:38:04
It is toilet paper.

00:01:43:03 - 00:01:44:11
I'm just

00:01:44:20 - 00:01:47:15
trying to get in and get past it right now

00:01:47:15 - 00:01:49:18
or push it all the way up.

00:01:50:12 - 00:01:55:15
Okay, right here is a Y and I would have to assume

00:01:56:16 - 00:01:58:23
that this Y is what

00:01:58:23 - 00:02:01:23
goes over to the kitchen line.

00:02:04:16 - 00:02:07:05
And then it goes up

00:02:07:05 - 00:02:10:14
right here where the toilet paper is lodged.

00:02:11:00 - 00:02:14:00
And now I will back back out

00:02:14:19 - 00:02:17:06
and see.

00:02:17:06 - 00:02:21:18
It appears that they had tied in that Y right there.

00:02:24:03 - 00:02:27:03
And it also appears that there's another fitting

00:02:27:08 - 00:02:30:08
right here.

00:02:33:08 - 00:02:36:08
Which could be the connection for the tub.

00:02:38:08 - 00:02:41:09
So I'm going to back out

00:02:41:15 - 00:02:44:15
and you see the standing water right there

00:02:45:10 - 00:02:47:22
on the

00:02:49:20 - 00:02:51:07
bottom

00:02:51:17 - 00:02:54:17
of the sewer pipe.

00:02:56:13 - 00:02:59:13
So I'm going to pull back

00:03:00:00 - 00:03:03:09
and you can see that standing water

00:03:05:13 - 00:03:07:20
all right there.

00:03:07:20 - 00:03:11:21
And how rough the inside of that cast iron is all the way through.

00:03:13:05 - 00:03:15:02
Backing out.

00:03:28:09 - 00:03:29:10
And how it's all cracked

00:03:29:10 - 00:03:32:01
right through there as I showed you as I went in.

00:03:32:13 - 00:03:35:24
And I'm coming back and you can see how busted it is right there.

00:03:35:24 - 00:03:38:00
All the way coming back.

00:03:39:06 - 00:03:42:01
Going underneath the house up to this point.

00:03:44:09 - 00:03:45:12
At this time I'm

00:03:45:12 - 00:03:49:08
going to turn the camera going into the opposite direction

00:03:50:24 - 00:03:53:24
and go back towards the street.

00:03:58:09 - 00:04:01:09
And see what we're looking like on

00:04:01:17 - 00:04:04:17
that side as well.

00:04:08:04 - 00:04:10:22
As you can see just entering the cast iron

00:04:11:09 - 00:04:13:05
just past the cleanout

00:04:14:08 - 00:04:17:08
the cast is pretty well rotted

00:04:18:15 - 00:04:21:15
and appears to be broke up pretty good.

00:04:30:00 - 00:04:31:13
I do not see

00:04:32:05 - 00:04:33:11
there's a break right there

00:04:33:11 - 00:04:35:21
where you just seen the cockroach run into the pipe

00:04:35:21 - 00:04:38:09
where it's all cracked right there.

00:04:42:08 - 00:04:43:17
And you can see it's cracked

00:04:43:17 - 00:04:46:17
all over there in the pipe as well.

00:04:47:22 - 00:04:51:01
As I'm going through the cast iron

00:04:51:19 - 00:04:54:19
you can see how deteriorated it is

00:04:56:02 - 00:04:59:02
and in need of replacement.

00:05:01:17 - 00:05:04:08
There is standing water

00:05:04:08 - 00:05:07:08
in the bottom of the pipe.

00:05:08:03 - 00:05:11:23
As I move along

00:05:13:13 - 00:05:15:23
heading towards the street.

00:05:16:14 - 00:05:19:14
It looks like there are roots

00:05:19:14 - 00:05:20:07
right there

00:05:22:02 - 00:05:25:02
that have entered into the pipe.

00:05:25:03 - 00:05:27:06
As we continue to go down.

00:05:27:06 - 00:05:30:05
And what appears to be

00:05:30:05 - 00:05:33:05
the city tap right here.

00:05:33:06 - 00:05:35:10
Going down

00:05:35:10 - 00:05:40:00
into the tap and into the main city sewer.

00:05:43:01 - 00:05:46:01
I will back out.

00:05:53:18 - 00:05:58:03
And this is where the cast iron continues and the roots.

00:05:58:22 - 00:06:01:22
As I continue to back out.

00:06:06:06 - 00:06:09:06
Coming away from the street now.

00:06:09:09 - 00:06:12:09
As you can see the cast is cracked up there on top.

00:06:15:06 - 00:06:18:06
In very bad shape.

00:06:27:15 - 00:06:29:01
All cracked up right there.

00:06:29:01 - 00:06:32:11
As you look at this part you can see it all cracked

00:06:33:13 - 00:06:36:13
and cockroaches coming in and out of that crack in the pipe.

00:06:38:10 - 00:06:42:10
This time I'm exiting the cleanout.

00:06:44:24 - 00:06:47:24
And back outside.

00:06:55:03 - 00:06:56:22
I am now on the roof

00:06:56:22 - 00:06:59:22
dropping the camera down the vent stack

00:06:59:22 - 00:07:02:22
for that same bathroom group that we were just in.

00:07:07:08 - 00:07:10:17
It appears that the vent stack going down for this bathroom

00:07:12:13 - 00:07:15:13
is plastic.

00:07:24:07 - 00:07:26:04
You can see where there’s a connection right there.

00:07:26:04 - 00:07:28:13
There’s a joint.

00:07:28:13 - 00:07:30:15
Could be the lavatory.

00:07:30:22 - 00:07:34:14
As we continue down it changes to cast iron right here.

00:07:35:11 - 00:07:38:11
So there must have been some type of repair made

00:07:38:18 - 00:07:41:18
because now we're going into the cast

00:07:42:06 - 00:07:45:06
and as we can see

00:07:46:23 - 00:07:49:23
there appears to be

00:07:58:05 - 00:08:00:18
no cracks.

00:08:00:18 - 00:08:03:18
Well, right there.

00:08:05:16 - 00:08:07:12
If you look right there,

00:08:07:12 - 00:08:10:12
there's a crack there.

00:08:24:06 - 00:08:26:10
Cast iron continues down

00:08:27:07 - 00:08:28:10
wise

00:08:30:00 - 00:08:31:16
or there’s a fitting right there

00:08:32:21 - 00:08:35:21
and then I'm in standing water.

00:08:47:07 - 00:08:50:07
Which I do not understand why

00:08:50:23 - 00:08:53:23
there’s any standing water there.

00:09:05:00 - 00:09:06:14
Through the pipe

00:09:08:20 - 00:09:11:00
into the main sewer

00:09:12:00 - 00:09:14:20
where we ran into that toilet paper earlier.

00:09:25:17 - 00:09:28:15
And we already have this on footage.

00:09:32:06 - 00:09:35:06
And you can see right there

00:09:36:15 - 00:09:38:11
where the pipe is cracked.

00:09:38:17 - 00:09:41:17
Going towards the street from the roof cleanout

00:09:42:00 - 00:09:45:00
and how big of a gap there is right there.

00:09:45:24 - 00:09:49:05
That's a pretty big hole for sewer smell

00:09:49:05 - 00:09:53:00
and gases to seep out of to go into that bedroom.

00:09:54:08 - 00:09:57:08
That pipe is pretty well broken out right there

00:09:57:19 - 00:10:00:18
and there's no question in my mind that the sewer gases

00:10:00:18 - 00:10:03:18
are seeping in through there and getting into this house.

00:10:05:08 - 00:10:08:08
As you can see it's cracked all the way on down

00:10:08:10 - 00:10:11:10
and it continues to go.

00:10:12:10 - 00:10:15:10
As we move down further.

00:10:15:11 - 00:10:18:15
That is the cleanout right there in front of the house

00:10:19:02 - 00:10:21:12
with the plug in it.

00:10:23:23 - 00:10:25:00
Stop recording.
